All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted security agencies in Osun State that four of its top leaders may have been listed for assassination by a rival party.
The hired killers, according to a statement by Kunle Oyatomi, Director of Publicity, Osun, yesterday, had commenced surveillance on the four leaders.
“Very credible inside sources from the rival party itself alerted the APC that its officials took this decision at a meeting in Lagos on Thursday”, the statement said.
“We are therefore alerting Nigerians to the horrible dimension to which the rival party’s desperation for power has taken.
“The rival party in the State of Osun has gone berserk and their diabolical lust for power has become so murderous that they seem to care less about innocent lives.
“We are reliably informed that the reason the rival party has suddenly become this desperate is that in spite of everything it has done, majority of the people of Osun and their leaders remain resolutely committed to the APC and totally opposed to its ideas.
“The APC therefore alerts Nigerians and all those who care about life and democracy that they should hold the party, its candidate and collaborators, who are the primary conspirators in this dastardly development, responsible, collectively and individually, for any harm that may come to these APC leaders, or any chieftain and members of our party.
“Nigerians should also hold them equally responsible for whatever abduction or physical assault that may result in the death of anybody in the State of Osun in the circumstances of the senseless violence they have introduced to the electoral process and activities leading to the August 9 election and thereafter.”
