A suspect is dead after an apparent shooting at Reynolds high school in Troutdale, Oregon, according to the Multnomah County sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office issued a release saying they were notified of an active shooter around 8am local time. Students were still being evacuated from the school a little more than an hour later. Dozens of police were on scene at the school in Troutdale, which has a population of about 16,000, and is 16 miles east of Portland.
Local media reported a Life Flight Air Ambulance flying above the high school.
Wednesday was scheduled to be the last day of school before summer break, according to the Reynolds school district website. A commencement was scheduled for Thursday.
Parents were asked to pick up their students from a nearby Fred Meyer department store. School district officials said reunification could take as long as two hours, according to local media outlets.
