The Christian Association of Nigeria in Borno on Friday began a three-day fast and prayer for the release of about 200 abducted pupils of Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, who were kidnapped by the violent sect, Boko Haram on April 14.
The State Chairman of the association, Rev. Titus Pona, announced this in Maiduguri.
He said the fast and prayer became necessary in view of the high trend of insurgent attacks in rural areas in the state.
The cleric stressed the need for special prayers for God’s intervention for the release of the girls.
“I urge you to intensify prayer and fasting so that God will give us the lasting solution to the killings and kidnapping across the North-East. I urge you to remain resolute in prayer for lasting solution to the security challenge in the country,’’ said Pona.
He advised that religion should not be used to commit devilish acts or promote selfish interest
